Member's Meeting 2 - May 2024

Place: Following the Communal Work Day in Hub and Pollinator Talk by Emma Plant

  • The Front Gate has been fully repaired and is working again. Many thanks to GCC
  • Fruit Trees now planted with thanks to Alister and Ruth
  • Hub Tap has been repaired and now working again
  • Small green trailer wheels have been repaired and working again with thanks to John
  • Trailer still not sold, to be actioned when time permits
  • Buddy Compost System explained. Please contact Secretary or Post on Facebook if you are interested in collecting green waste from Microplot holders for your compost bins. A suggestion for having a compost bin near your fenceline with Buddy Compost written on it would alert those intent on sharing their green waste and deposit in your bin on their walk past.
  • Any remaining Potatoes can be taken for a donation to Croftburn Allotments, any remaining will be planted for Communal Soup or donated to local food banks
  • BT will be digging near the substation pole at the entrance to the site soon.
  • Volunteers for the Inspection roles have notified the Secretary who is liaising with them and notification of inspections will be sent out in the near future. If you feel you would be able to assist with inspections, please contact our secretary ASAP.
  • A new leak has been identified on the tap near Plot 22 and will be repaired shortly.
  • Poly Tunnel is ready for Micro Plot Holder to use to grow their plug plants and should contact the Secretary to notify their interest in using the space.
  • Alister sent away for seeds from the RHS and received them and will donate them to the allotment for the wild flower area.
  • Any excess plug plants and seeds will be left in the Poly Tunnel on the shelving racks for members to take with a notice of what is for sale and what is free. Ruth is donating Tomato plants for anyone to use.
  • A member asked for an update on the Council timeline to issue an invoice for payment for plot rental. No update as yet.
  • Woodchip is still awaiting delivery update
  • Vivienne left cardboard for any member to use in the hub.
  • A birch tree was donated and will be planted in the allotment wild area to replace the fallen tree in the high winds in January
  • Follow-up on the Rotary Club – Purple4Polio, there has still been no further update as yet, following our initial enquiry.
  • Plot holder names were placed on the Notice board as requested

Planned Event

  • Harvest Show in late August early September

Inspector Volunteers Required ASAP

  • We are looking for 3 plot holders who can carry out inspections as their Communal hours for the year, and can be done in their own time. Please contact the Secretary to find out more.
